Our regular Sunday Sessions at Gibsons Wine Store in Hawthorn are quickly becoming the most exciting little gigs I’ve ever been apart of.  We had a fantastic audience yesterday, who sang, whistled, smiled, drank and almost danced their way through our set.

Playing 2 hours of originals with the odd cover thrown in it seems the ‘band’ are picking up the songs faster than Federer knocks out opponents.  There was even a little sing along outside, as the regulars belted out a few classic pub covers that surely had the patrons at the Elgin Hotel wondering what the hell was going on!

We’ll be back next week from 5pm.  Get in their early, grab your table, bring your friends, and tuck into some live acoustic tunes, and of course a nice wine, or cold beer.

The Grace Emily in Adelaide was my 3rd stop on my EP launch tour, and this time I was flying completely solo with the aid of my little loop pedal. Emily Davis kicked off the night, and had the local patrons floored with her story telling (Emily’s album was a welcome addition to our playlist for the drive home). Simon Peters Band, a 3 piece, were on song, with lush violin, unique percussion, didge, and of course Simon Peters gravely voice. It was a fantastic evening, and an absolute pleasure to play to an eager audience. 60 people singing ‘Married a Farmer’ sounded more like 200. Can’t wait to come back.

Opening for Juan Alban on my road trip to Adelaide at Baby Black Espresso Bar.  A cute little courtyard served up more than just great cab sav (a local drop Cameron’s Estate), with tables intent on enjoying intimate storytelling.  An oasis in the bush.  Tonight we could have been in the cafe hip Paris or Barcelona, but no we were half way to Ballarat, just off a freeway, somewhere out west. Go west I say.

My favourite gig to date. Had a blast firstly listening to the magic of both Bridget A’Beckett and Epicure’s Juan Alban. The room was eerie silent and I almost felt bad for raising the tone, but with some extended looping and genius from Bridget and Glyn Wallens on drums it was all just too much fun. Look out next year as we add a few more peeps to the line up, as well as rehearse in some new songs. Bigger and better.

This was the best and potentially the worst gig I’ve played. I had major sound issues, with my guitar cutting in and out, and with each song, the guitar got worse. I could walk off, but instead decided to cut the cord, and go and stand on somebody’s table, and play acoustically. Thankfully they had finished dinner. The reception was brilliant and I’m very thankful to the supportive crowd!

How good is the Wesley Anne?  It looks like it might have been a church and then on the side is a tagged on lounge room come band room.  It was great to play there, and was even better to see some folk singing along. I’m hoping to have my EP launch there later this year, but I might just have to head back there a few times before and endulge.  Here are some pic’s that my resident photographer Fi Wright took.
