Pay what you like

bandcamp

I’ve decided to put my album, Wish It All Away (4/5 SMH, 3.5/5 Telegraph) out into the ethos and let you decide it’s worth.  Previously I had trialed this at gigs only, with the average selling price of about $20.  I have now decided to extended this to digital downloads knowing full well that the average punter is going to enter $0. I figure I was never going to sell one to that person anyway so they might as well tempt them, and hopefully get them along to a gig.

My thinking with all this is to just get my music out to a wider audience.  In doing so I must acknowledge the loyal friends and fans who, by buying my album, have helped fund the recording, the tour and the future development of my music.

To enable a ‘pay what you like’ concept, I’m using Bandcamp, an online streaming, download and payment system.  Not only can I distribute and potentially sell my album to all and sundry I can allow full high defination downloads – something that iTunes doesn’t support. There are huge benefits for musicians which I won’t delve into, but those in the business should definately check it out.

So if you don’t have my album, or if you do and you want to play a valuable role in recommending it to others, please visit my website or go directly to my bandcamp store and pay what you please.
